I finally saw “There will Be Blood” by PTA last night at the local art house. For some reason I felt the need to invite my Slovakian friend whose bra I won in a fierce game of old school slide bar bowling sometime ago. Unfortunately she was not wearing a ” I’m gonna bang you bra” so I won the “oh shit I have do laundry bra” instead. (My guess is she said this in Slovakian though.) It still rocked to win a bra from a Slovak and I have it hanging with pride in my closet. I even had her sign it. Pictures and stories for another time.



The film slowly sucked you in . I think I would have been more sucked in if I was not fascinated with watching the Slovakian girl squirm in her seat trying to figure out what she was seeing and why she was there. Lucky for me this theater has a bar and I sucked down a few Stella’s and sunk in to the film ignoring her Slovakian ways.



A power house of acting, I can see why Daniel Day Lewis is nominated, the script was tight as a 15 yr old, the direction flawless and the pace really brought you in to the soul of the lead character slowly, until you didn’t know whether you loved him, hated him or felt sorry for him. There was blood, , deceit, love, power, greed, lies, murder, hope, bravery, compassion, forgiveness, betrayal and a skinny religious ranting guy. Pretty much sums up America.



All in all it is a good film if not great and I can not really say there was anything wrong with it, I just didn’t love it. I didn’t really escape in to it. MAybe it’s because i was with a funny Slovakian girl, maybe it’s because i am to much of a douche bag to relate to such deep thoughts this week.

The Slovak, well she said she liked it minus the blood, , deceit, love, power, greed, lies, murder, hope, bravery, compassion, forgiveness, betrayal and a skinny religious ranting guy. Guess the American way confuses her.

 After the flick, we sucked down a few martinis listened to some bad hip-hop, made out and what not.

I really was hoping to say that I got her home and I was totally going to do it to her, but she was on her period and then I could have used some sort of, there was blood joke to make this entry funny. Nope. She dropped me off at midnight and I watched the super Tuesday election results praying for a Pants of Dance Off to prove the true winner. Excellent.
